Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Elbert County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be kept long enough to review it and respond. The message is not disclosed beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Elbert County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, the county courts, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC), and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, court systems, Georgia agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.

We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:

In Georgia, the Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, applies to records held by public agencies, not private visitor data held by this website. GCIC criminal-history dissemination is separately governed by O.C.G.A. §§ 35-3-34 and 35-3-35. Subject to the law and any applicable exceptions, you may:

- Ask for deletion of qualifying data
